Warsaw is a safe city and what goes wrong here is usually distance and cold rather than danger. An address that changes by message at the last minute, a block on the far side of the river you could not name, a walk at two in the morning in February that becomes its own problem. Agree the address and the hour in writing before either of you moves, and treat a last-minute change as a reason to stop rather than to hurry.
The law where you are standing
Selling sex is legal in Poland and so is buying it: neither is an offence for the two adults involved. Everything organised around it is not. Article 204 of the Penal Code punishes anyone who induces another into prostitution or profits from it with up to three years, and keeping or renting a premises for the purpose with up to two. There is one anomaly worth knowing, because it explains the whole climate: the state does not recognise sex work as work, so it cannot be taxed and gives no access to social insurance. A woman working legally therefore has no registration, no card and no paperwork proving anything - there is nothing to issue. Sex with anyone under 18, or with anyone coerced or trafficked, is a separate and serious crime.
The setups that repeat
Almost nothing here is exotic. The same four or five scripts run in every city in Europe, and the only reason they still work is that men who feel embarrassed do not compare notes.
- The wrong woman. The gallery is a model from another country, the person at the door is not her, and by the time you notice you are already inside. It is the most common complaint in every city in Europe, and it is the exact failure a face and body video review exists to catch, which is why it is done here before a profile is ever published. An unverified listing is a photograph of nobody in particular.
- The moving price. What was agreed by message becomes something else in the room, with a new number attached. This is not a negotiation, it is a method. Agree once, in writing, before you travel - and treat any change as the end of the evening.
- The card. Someone offers to "hold" your card, take it to another room to charge it, or asks for a photograph of it. A card out of your sight is a card being cloned. Cash for the evening, card in your pocket.
- The drink. A drink you did not watch being poured, in a private flat, from a stranger. Men are robbed this way far more often than they are attacked. Order your own, open your own, and if you leave the glass, leave the glass.
- The clip joint. A friendly girl on the street suggests a bar nearby. Two drinks arrive, then a bill of several hundred, then two large men at the door of a place with no prices on the menu. Never let a stranger choose the venue, and never enter a bar where the drinks are not priced.
Before you go, in ninety seconds
- Agree everything once, in writing, before you travel: the address, the hour and what it costs. If any of the three moves at the last minute, that is a reason to stop, not a reason to hurry.
- Tell one person the address and the hour. You do not need to say why.
- Keep your phone charged and in your pocket, not on a table you may have to leave.
- If the place, the person or the tone is not what was agreed, leave. Five awkward minutes cost nothing; the alternative can cost a great deal.
If the police turn up
Two adults in a private room is not, by itself, a police matter in most of Europe. Stay still, stay polite, do not run and do not volunteer a story. You are allowed to say you would prefer to speak with a lawyer. Do not sign a statement in a language you do not read.

Money
- Carry what the evening costs and no more. An emptied wallet is a bad night; an emptied account is a bad year.
- Never send a deposit to a stranger by gift card, crypto, or a wire to a name that does not match the profile.
- Your card never leaves your hand. No card is ever "held at reception" for anything.
- If a price changes once you are in the room, the evening is over. Dress, leave, do not argue.
